Because the future is a place where everyone has access to
reliable, affordable, and clean energy sources
87% of the 940 million people without electricity live in rural areas. Providing electricity in low populated, remote places with difficult terrain and low consumption result in rural electricity schemes that are usually more costly to implement than urban schemes.
There is a clear relationship between access to electricity, and access to clean cooking fuels measured against average income (GDP per capita). In both metrics we see a strong positive correlation: energy access is low in poorer countries, and increases as incomes increase.
When looking at the differences in average per capita electricity generation across the world, it becomes clear the large inequalities which exist between countries. In many low-income countries, per capita electricity generation is more than 100-fold lower than the richest countries.

Airlectric is an electrochemical battery that generates energy from moisture in the air allowing for access to reliable, clean energy regardless of income or geographical confinements.
The core technology behind our battery is the Humidity Digestion Framework (HDF),
which is comprised of three main sections
Ambient humidity in the air is collected with hygroscopic materials (materials that absorb moisture from the air). In this case hydrogel (made from natural polymers) is used due to its highly porous structure, as well as its high affinity for atmospheric water and fast absorption rate.
The Hygroscopic materials serve as the electrolyte, which is sandwiched by two electrodes. The ionic conductivity of the electrolyte is increased after absorbing moisture. The interaction of the water molecules and the electrodes is what causes the hydroelectric conversion.
Lastly, the water digestor acts as a energy generating apparatus, responsible for converting the chemical potential energy of water into electricity (this hydroelectric conversion is similar to how lightning is produced).
